The suburbs are not pedestrian friendly

Yesterday, Prince E and I took Mr. Car to the Midas dealer in the suburbs to get a new radiator and oil gasket. We were told it would take approximately five hours to fix. We decided to go up the road to the Super Target, approximately a mile or so away....if you are in car. Unfortunately for us, the suburbs had received 4-5 inches of snow the night before. Even though the roads had been cleared, the sidewalks had not been shoveled. To attempt to avoid some of the snow (and the fast moving traffic on the main road), we traveled through side streets, paths through neighborhoods, and store parking lots. The far-more-than-one mile trip took us forever. Luckily the sun was out and it was not too windy. After Target, we went further up the street to a shopping mall for lunch. It is a total of two miles back to the Midas if you stay on the main road. Our way was probably twice that. It took us over an hour to get back to the Midas. We had to stay on the main road for some small portions of the trip and there the snow was mixed with mud, which made for slippery conditions. I fell once and now my knee is a bit bruised. Below are some photos from the trip for your enjoyment. I will post a video a bit later.

  • Is it just me or does Prince E look a lot like Sponge Bob?

I hope that your knee is okay.

  • It IS pretty. I live in the 'burbs, and hate it. at least you had sidewalks!! Bethesda is anti-sidewalk. You have to get in the car to cross the street! Ohh, i'm ranting. I better go make this a blog entry!
    Nice photos!
